Ex-Temasek exec launches Kedaara Capital with CD&R
Manish Kejriwal, the former head of Temasek India, is said to be counting Clayton, Dubilier and Rice (CD&R) among the investors of his new fund manager, Kedaara Capital.
CD&R will take a minority stake in the India-focused private equity firm which Keijriwal established after he resigned from Singaporean sovereign wealth fund Temasek in August, the Economic Times reported.
According to sources, Kedaara will advise a $500 million-sized vehicle which will make minority investments in high-growth businesses, including those which are expanding overseas.
Two ex-General Atlantic executives, Sunish Sharma, managing director, and Nishant Sharma, principal, were also said to have left their firm to join Kejriwal in his new venture. A Reuters report noted that Temasek is not expected to be an LP in the fund.
Kejriwal started at Temasek in 2004 and opened its Mumbai office. He was in charge of the firm's investments in the Middle East and Africa. During his time at the fund, Temasek's key investments included taking a stake in the National Stock Exchange of India, GMR Energy, ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel.
At Atlantic Partners, Sharma focused on transactions in the consumer, healthcare, financial services sectors. He also joined the firm in 2004, from McKinsey.
