Tata Opportunities Fund makes second close at $550m
Tata Capital has completed the second close of its latest private equity vehicle, the Tata Opportunities Fund LP, at $550 million.
The news comes five months after its first, $450 million close, brokered through commitments by global institutional investors in North America and Asia. These investors will also co-invest directly into portfolio companies, Tata said in a statement. The fund is now set to deploy capital, and additional investors will be permitted to commit capital to the vehicle on a selective basis.
The Tata Opportunities Fund is sector and stage agnostic, and targets growth and buyout opportunities both within and outside the Tata network. Tata Capital began marketing the fund in November 2010.
This will be Tata's fourth private equity fund, following its growth, innovation, healthcare and special situations vehicles. To date, the company has reportedly invested $150 million in six acquisitions, which include two firms within the Tata group.
