Chinese fast food chain gets first institutional investment
MUS Roosevelt Capital Partners has committed an undisclosed sum to Chinese fast-food restaurant chain Origus, marking the asset’s first institutional investment.
Origus manages approximately 100 Western-style and pizza buffet restaurants in China's major cities and Inner Mongolia. Origus' founder Mu Ji said the investment will be used for expansion, which may comes via strategic partnerships.
"With growing middle class and busier work schedules in the cities, the dining-out sector will grow at double digit rate in the next ten years," Steve Wang, managing director of MUS Roosevelt, added in a statement. "We are excited to be playing a role in accelerating the development of the dining-out sector in China."
MUS Roosevelt focuses its investments on mid-sized, high-growth companies predominantly in Greater China through its China Pacific Fund LP, launched in June 2006. MUS Roosevelt is a joint venture between Mitsubishi UFJ Securities (HK) Holdings and Roosevelt China Investment Corp., an affiliate of the US-based Roosevelt family trust.
